Lead William H. Abbe "Grants House" Linocut w/Plate
Description
William H. Abbe' signed and numbered art print of "Grants House". Signed in pencil in the lower right ad numbered 8/12 in the bottom center. Some foxing noted due to age. Also accompanied by the original linoleum plate. Very awesome! Image size is 13" x 22" single matted under glass in a black brushed aluminum frame with an overall size of 18" x 27". William H. Abbe (1916-1983). From 1940 to 1943, William Abbe served as an illustrator for the United States Army. In 1944 and 1945 he was an official artist for the military in France and Germany. At the end of the war he accepted the post of artist-in-residence and teacher at St. Paul's School, Concord, New Hampshire. He remained there for thirty-two years and retired in 1981. He also spent most of his summers and all of his retirement in the Cape Cod area of Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard, where he maintained a permanent studio.
